davewill Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 Hi Bleeno Being local to me i hope you can help Have bought a 6006 CD Multichanger unit to replace the standard 6000 I understand these to be "plug and play" however the connections on the back of the 6006 are totally different to 6000 unit I have taken two photos of the connections on the back of the units, but being challenged in IT can't seem to upload them :angry2: Any help gratefully received ThanksDave Quote
mumof4 Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 I had the 6006e, is that what you have? front loading 6 cd changer. when you reply, choose add reply not fast reply, there will be an option with browse next to it, click browse and select your pics, then select upload you should be able to take out the old unit and plug in the new one.even though the slots at the back will be slightly different Quote
davewill Posted December 10, 2007 Author Report Posted December 10, 2007 Hi Mum (of 4) If you can see the attachments the 001 is the back of my current 6000 single CD unit with wires still plugged in, and 002 and 003 is the back of the 6006 6 CD multi changer The 6006 looks totally different to me so any advice please Quote
davewill Posted December 10, 2007 Author Report Posted December 10, 2007 Sorry Bl***dy technology Top two are current 6000 model with wires in Bottom one is new 6006 unit Quote
mumof4 Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 from memory.... The right connections first as looking at the back. they fit into the green slots.. what you have to do is look at the shape of the connectors and pair them up with the corresponding slots in the back of the new unit. the black square plug goes into the black slot on the left wehich iirc the yellow connection does aswell. they will fit in, bit like a jigsaw puzzle!, same pieces different slots. But they will all plug in. raymac has my old 6006e unit now, he will be able to tell you more as been a while since i had it. Quote
davewill Posted December 10, 2007 Author Report Posted December 10, 2007 Thanks Mum I just assumed the connectors would look the same, but as you say its putting the jigsaw together If Bleeno replies (and has done this) i will probably ask a favour of him, and meet him to ensure i get it right Thanks again Dave :( Quote
mumof4 Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 dont think he has the 6006e unit..i will have a look to see if i still have the pics on my pc of where all the connections go Quote
davewill Posted December 11, 2007 Author Report Posted December 11, 2007 It says 6006E on the front of the multichanger Manufacture date Nov 05 and my Gal is an 06 Model with standrad 6000 CD/Radio unit Dave Quote
mumof4 Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 It will just plug in and play.the connectors you just have to look at the shape of them and fit them in.took me a few mins to figure it out when i first did it, but you will kick yourself once you do it. Quote
mumof4 Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 Long black connector goes into bottom of green, shorter black above it, yellow into black left.black square IIRC, goes into black left. this is all from memory, may be wrong. Just look at the shape of the connectors on the ends, and find the corresponding shaped slot. Quote
Smilge Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 Hi dave ..... have PM'd you. I reckon Mumof4 could be right on this one Dave. I haven't actually done one of these as I had the MFD version in mine and that's a different kettle of fish altogether. Quote
davewill Posted December 12, 2007 Author Report Posted December 12, 2007 OK, firstly many thanks to Bleeno for taking the time to help me fit the new 6006E unit Turned out that the 6000 model has more connectors than the 6006E so you actually only need to connect the two long ones. The small square plug and yellow one don't do nothing. Once fitted the CD came up with E 3 Error Upon arriving home Bleeno had PM'd me with this problem re Mum (of 4) So whipped the top off, and no CD stuck inside, but the CD mechanism was stuck up on one side Gently eased it down so that it was level, switched on and Load CD came up Loaded all 6 CD's with no problem, and all was well <_< Thanks once again to Bleeno, and Mum of 4 with her suggestions. I am truly greatful Regards Dave  Quote
mumof4 Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 Your welcome.Glad i could help in a small way.Yep i had E3.Glad you got it sorted. Quote
Smilge Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 Your very welcome Dave ...... easy when you've done a couple and I'm glad you've sorted the CD error 3 problem out. Lovely car by the way! Quote
muffking Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 Can I just take out my 5000 tape headunit and fit any 6000/6006 CD headunit? What's the difference between the 6006 & 6006E BTW? Quote
mumof4 Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 Yes you can, as i took out the one in it ( tape one) and put in the 6006e 6 CD front loading one. No idea what the diff is between the two 6006 units. Quote
muffking Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 Cheers mum :(Does the 6006 play MP3's as that may be the difference. Quote
